ASUS has started the countdown to introduce the gaming-focused ROG Phone 8 series. There has been a new development regarding phones whose launch date was previously known and which appeared in performance tests. Here are new details about ASUS ROG Phone 8!
ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro appeared in NBTC database
ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro appeared on the NBTC database with model number AI2401_D. While the list reveals that the phone will be compatible with 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, it also eliminates the last question mark in mind before the launch.
ASUS ROG Phone 8 series will have sharper and angular frames compared to its predecessor. However, the back panel has a dual-tone color design, divided into lighter and darker gray and black.
Smartphones have a square camera module with a break in the lower right corner. Here we see a triple camera setup consisting of one large and two small auxiliary sensors whose resolutions are not yet known. In fact, details such as ROG’s RGB logo, indicating that it is gaming-oriented, are also used on the devices.
The ROG Phone 8 series will use a 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD + screen with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 2500 nits peak brightness. Moreover, the fingerprint reader, which is determined as the security method, will be located under the screen. We should even point out that both models have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and IP68 certification.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will appear in the series. The processor, produced with 4 nm technology, has 1 3.3 GHz ARM Cortex-X4, 3 3.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A720, 2 3.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A720 and 2 2.3 GHz ARM Cortex-A520 cores. In addition, the company includes the Adreno 750 graphics unit with Ray Tracing support in its new chip.
Another detail we encounter in performance tests is the amount of RAM in the products. While the standard ROG Phone 8 comes with 12 GB LPDDR5x RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage, the Pro model will be on the shelves with 16/24 GB LPDDR5x RAM as well as 512 GB or 1 TB UFS 4.0 internal storage. Let us note that both devices will run Android 14. The launch date of the smartphones was determined as January 1.
